This article contains spoilers for the Yakuza Fiancé: Raise wa Tanin ga Ii anime and manga.
Anime's top romance series of Fall 2024, Yakuza Fiancé: Raise wa Tanin ga Ii, has started its course towards season one's climax. Episode 7, "I'd Rather You Hate Me Than Not Care, Party Two," left off with the anime's main couple closing in on Kento Ozu and his goons. Yoshino and Kirishima haven't been the most in-sync duo as they try to pull the strings of Ozu's scheme, but they prove to be a formidable pair with their wits and connections. However, the anime's most recent episode reveals that there is more to Ozu's plot than meets the eye.

Yakuza Fiancé episode 8, "To Be Honest, I Want to Marry You," unveils the reason for this convoluted cat-and-mouse game as well as introduces two characters that are certain to give Yoshino and Kirishima's growing teamwork a run for their money. Suou Azami and his curly-haired underling have been brought into the fold of the anime's compelling, crime-centric story, and they appear to be leagues more troublesome than the regular thugs that Yoshino and Kirishima have previously faced.

Suou Azami is a perplexing character with a harsh and off-putting type of personality, possessing a cold look in his eyes and a silent demeanor that many tend to find intimidating. He rarely speaks unless he deems it absolutely necessary to respond, though he seems to be more lax with his words around his unnamed underling. Despite being affiliated with Kento Ozu, Azami appears to greatly dislike him.

Azami has an alarmingly dangerous vibe to him. Ozu especially seems to be afraid of him, though that could also be due to their history. Azami was noted to be more talkative and friendlier with Ozu a year prior to current events, indicating that something might have occurred between the two that resulted in everlasting tension. So far, there isn't a lot known about Azami's other relations, as he is the type of person to keep distance and holds his true motives close to his chest. Similar to Kirishima and Yoshino, he can have a very brutal side in regards to those who take advantage of him.
Like most of the male characters in Yakuza Fiancé, Azami possesses a collection of very distinct tattoos. The most notable of them are the images of a snake and octopus, which encompass the back of his nack and his right arm. There are also symbols that allude to the Illuminati, such as the triangle on his nape and the eye on his right arm. Another defining aspect about Azami's appearance is that he often wears a mask, which covers the large, diagnal scar that runs across his mouth.

Who is Suou Azami's Unnamed Underling?
Yakuza Fiancé Fans Have Dubbed this Strange Character "Noodle-kun"
Something strange about the character who is commonly referred to as "The Underling" or "Azami's Underling" is that he currently has no canon name despite being a seemingly important character. As a result, fans of Yakuza Fiancé have taken to nicknaming him "Seaweed Head" or "Noodle-kun" after his most identifiable trait: his red, curly hair. He also has long lower eyelashes and opts for a suit as his daily wear, appearing like a typical Yakuza member.

Azami's Underling holds a rather indifferent attitude towards his job and claims to dislike thugs as well as anything involving the Yakuza; however, as long as he gets paid, he has no qualms about continuing his work. He holds a decent amount of respect for Suou Azami and tends to follow his orders without question. Azami's Underling has also proven himself to be quite the strong individual and skilled fighter, as he is shown to be an even match for Shouma Toriashi during their first altercation.
Unlike Azami himself, his underling has shown to have an easier time conversing with others and even possesses a flirtatious side to him; upon meeting Nao Shiota in person, he casually asks her on a date despite the tense circumstances of their encounter. There seems to be little that can make Azami's Underling angry, though he is sensitive about his curly hair. He doesn't show much of a reaction to Shouma's rudeness until Shouma calls him "curly," to which Azami's Underling responds by starting a fight.

Suou Azami is the Mastermind With Mysterious Motives
At first, the events of the last few episodes of Yakuza Fiancé seemed to be in accordance with Kento Ozu's scheme of trying to eliminate Kirishima Miyama and Yoshino Somei. Episode 8 reveals that everything that Ozu had arranged was at the request of the men that Kirishima and Yoshino encountered back in episode 2, "Let Me Express My Sincerity, and Maybe Earn Your Affection in the Process."

These men wanted to get revenge against Kirishima and Yoshino for the humiliation they suffered. While Ozu is quick to assure that they'll eventually get what they're after, the truth is that Ozu's been mainly going along with their wishes because Suou Azami personally asked him to. However, Ozu is completely oblivious to the reason why Azami wants to help a couple of—as Ozu himself puts it—"no name punks" out in the first place.

Azami and His Underling are the Only People who Make Kirishima Nervous
The later chapters of Yakuza Fiancé's manga reveal that Suou Azami has been tracking and spying on Yoshino long enough to know a great deal about her and that she spends a majority of her time outside of school with Kirishima. It might be possible that Kirishima already knows about this, considering the lengths he goes to uncover every detail about his beloved red-haired fiancée.

What's interesting to note is that Kirishima seemed to become incredibly concerned when Yoshino mentioned seeing a man with red permed hair—which was in reference to Azami's Underling. This indicates that Kirishima may be aware of who Azami and his Underling are. And considering the fact that Krisihima hasn't previously shown fear or worry about the trouble he's faced so far, his concern is a big indication that the pair will be a massive threat to both Yoshino and himself.
Azami's dangerous nature and his underling's loyalty to a paycheck make them into a pair that could rival the combined efforts of Kirishima and Yoshino. Azami has proven himself to be an even match for Kirishima in terms of combat, effortlessly keeping up with him during their fight later in the manga. This, coupled with the fact that Azami's Underling has given Shouma—who is just as much a fearsome fighter as Kirishima—trouble, means Yakuza Fiancé's charmingly toxic duo have a difficult road ahead of them so long as Azami and his Underling are involved.

Chapter 31 of the Yakuza Fiancé manga officially unveils Azami's true motive: to kill Renji Somei, Yoshino's grandfather. Although he doesn't clearly state why he wants Renji dead, Azami proposes a deal to Yoshino and explains his plans for eventually achieving that goal, and that involves cutting Kirishima out of the picture. Obviously, Kirishima will have qualms about being removed from the game, and Yoshino loves her grandfather. How exactly Azami expects to accomplish anything he wants is up for future chapters and episodes to reveal, but it is clear that he might just be the biggest antagonist of the series.
