They married in 1958 just before Mr. Tippett started divinity school at Berkeley College of Yale University in New Haven, Conn. He received his masters in divinity degree in 1961.
He was ordained as a deacon at Christ Church in Milbank, SD, on July ,1961. He was assigned by the bishop as the first vicar of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Rapid City, just a new mission church, and he began his 30 years in the church. He was ordained as a priest on Jan. 21, 1962, at St.
Andrew's and served that growing congregation until 1966 when he, his wife and two daughters moved to Mitchell where Mr. Tippett served as rector of St. Mary's Episcopal Church until 1973. It was in Mitchell that the Tippetts adopted two sons. In the program, Mr.
Tippett also was the manager of Grigg's Sporting and Men's Apparel in Mitchell. Father as he was known, served as the youth director for the Diocese of South Dakota from 1961-73 until the family moved to Bismarck, ND, where he was the rector of St. George's Episcopal Church, a position he held until 1990. He and his first wife were divorced in 1990. Mr.
Tippett served as interim minister at St. Peter's in Williston, ND, and St. Michael's and All Angels in Cartwright in 1990-91. He moved to Arizona were together for 29 years and lived in California and Texas. They both had a love for music and worked together to fulfill his dream to be a country singer.
Doris worked as a hotel desk manager until her retirement in 1999. Doris loved working in her yard and was particularly fond of roses. She had many different varieties and colors. She loved to read and her favorite series were Harlequin Romances. Her other passion and hobby was crocheting.
In 2007 Doris moved back to South Dakota to be closer to her family. Survivors include her mother, Mabel Gunderson, Timber Lake; sons, Chet Steven P. Avila BLACK HAWK Steven P. Avila, 52 of Black Hawk, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at his residence. He served in the United States Air Force from 1977 to 1997.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte A. Avila, Black Hawk; two sons, Michael (Sharon) Avila, Bunkerville, Nevada and Johnathen Avila, Salt Lake Avila City, Utah; Avila a daughter, Christina (Tyler) Hill, St. George, Utah; his mother, Rose Avila, Modesto, California; five brothers and one sister. He is preceded in death by his father Samuel Avila and brother, Thomas Avila. Funeral Service will be held 1 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, with a visitation one hour prior at the Black Hills Funeral Home in Sturgis with Chaplain (Ret.) Herbert B. Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with military honors by the Ellsworth Air Force Base Honor Guard.

Dennis and Jan were married in July 1992 in Owatonna, Mn. They moved to Pennsylvania in August 1992 where Jan was first the general manager and then the publisher of The Daily Item in Sunbury. Dennis worked as a field auditor for Vallance Associates and then Equifax until he retired in 1995 to become what he described as the "publisher's wife" and worked on his golf game, a sport he took up after the Marine Corps, prayed and studied.
Jan retired early and the couple moved to Rapid City in 2007, arriving just in time to celebrate St. Andrew's 50th anniversary. Mr. Tippett was the past president of the North Dakota Conference of Churches and the standing committee of the Diocese of North Dakota. He was a five- -term deputy to the General Convention of the National Episcopal Church, was a cantress at Christ Church College, Canterbury, Kent, England, had a fellowship in gerontology at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, was a 32nd Degree Mason, and belonged to numerous service clubs.

Dutchie (Bertha) Goers SPEARFISH Dutchie (Bertha) Goers passed away at the age of 93 on August 6th, 2012, at David M. Dorsett Health Care Center in Spearfish, SD. Born to Frank and Minnie Vance in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Goers on May 13, 1919, she grew up in Pierre, SD. A longtime resident of Lake Mills, WI, she married her husband, Mose (Robert) Goers, there on June 14th, 1948. She spent the majority of her golden years in Venice, FL, before moving to Spearfish, SD, to be near her niece Kathy Huse Wika.
The sixth of ten children born to Frank and Minnie, Dutchie grew up in a small house in Pierre that remained the home place for many years. Dutchie was a seasoned traveler, sharing South Dakota Christmases with her family for over fifty years. She was known for her elaborate Christmas bows, each one handmade and carefully decorated. Many family and friends remember that any time music was playing, Dutchie was dancing. A kind soul with a sassy spirit, she loved children and animals and music.
She collected stuffed animals, cut glass, and her nephew Jim Erickson's stone sculptures. She was preceded in death by six nephews, one niece, her husband, her parents, her two brothers, and her seven sisters. The Vance family is finally together again. Delores was born March 19, 1937, in Hin- ton, OK, to James and Birdie (Tingler) Norman. Delores married George A. Wold in Wold Stillwa- Wold ter, MN, on July 2, 1954.
After completing high school she later went on to nurses training and became an LPN. They moved to Rapid City in 1991 and she retired in 1997 after 27 years of working as an LPN. Delores loved to crochet and collect dolls, ceramics and figurines. She especially enjoyed fishing. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit right up until her last days.
She is survived by her husband, George Wold of Box Elder; four children, Deborah E. Mitchum and husband Charles of Wichita, KS, Pamela K. Cloyd and husband David of Soddy Daisy, TN, Dale L. Wold and fiance Lori Pugh of Gallatin, TN and Kristin A. Marrotte and fiance Jim Mardian of Rapid City; her brother, Warren Norman and wife Kay of Las Vegas, NV; her sister, Patricia Ann Marks and husband Marion of Grand Prairie, TX; 10 grandchildren, Patrick, Jessica, Jonathon, Angela, Jason, Philip, Sylvia, Joshua, Anthony and Louis; and 15 greatgrandchildren.

He was born on June 12, 1932, in Ortonville, the son of Thomas and Frances (Obitz) Tippett and grew up in Big Stone City, SD, and on his grandparents ranch outside of Big Stone. Early in his life, he discovered that a ball fit his hand very well. He played football, basketball, and baseball, lettering in all. He road bulls in high school rodeo and much preferred riding his horses on the ranch to walking. He graduated from Big Stone High School in 1950.
He went to Northern State in Aberdeen but, by his own admission, he much preferred the football program under Clark Swisher to the classroom. After his sophom*ore football season, he enlisted in the United States Marines. He was a Marine commando and a demolitions expert. He was honorably discharged on March 19, 1955. With the GI bill, Dennis received his bachelor's degree from Augustana Doris Mabel Smith STURGIS Doris Mabel Smith, 77, Sturgis, went home to be with the Lord on August 7, 2012.
She died peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. Doris was born January 9, 1935 at Timber Lake, SD, to Edward O. and Mabel E. (Winterberg) Gunderson. She graduated from high school in 1953.
Doris married Harold "Pete" Helmey in 1955. They had two sons. They lived in several different places throughout the Western United States. Doris was a homemaker and raised her sons. In 1976 Doris married T.D.
Smith. They Diane Grace Kirkendoll WRIGHT, WYO. Diane Grace Kirkendoll, 65, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.
