The charging time for your Polestar 2 will depend on the charger you're using. For example, if your battery is almost empty when you plug in your car, it will take around eight hours for the battery to fully charge to 100% with an 11kW AC charger.

The Swedish-based company, controlled by China's Geely, currently makes all its EVs in China. Its new model, the Polestar 3, will be made in the United States from the end of this summer and the Polestar 4 will be produced in South Korea starting in the second half of 2025.

The 2024 Polestar 2 has a $49,900 base MSRP, one of the lowest starting prices among luxury EVs. The Long Range Single Motor base model comes equipped with a 299-horsepower motor, 320 miles of range, 19-inch wheels, textile upholstery, heated front seats, and an 11-inch touch screen, among other features.

It is preceded by Polestar's announcement in 2023 that it will adopt Tesla's NACS charging standard for Polestar drivers in North America. Simultaneously, in China, Polestar owners are now able to access the Tesla Supercharger network in over 200 cities, further boosting charger access.

It's important to note that you can charge your EV to 100%, but it's just that for optimal battery life over the long haul, charging to a lower percentage is a good idea. It's like changing engine oil in an old-school vehicle.

Unless you have a regular long-distance commute, you don't need to charge your electric car every night. It's unlikely that any driver of a traditional gas-powered car refills their tank daily, just as it is not necessary to keep your EV battery topped off.

High-performance engine

The internal combustion engine in the Polestar 1 is a high-performance in-line four-cylinder gasoline engine.

The Polestar 1 is powered by a hybrid powertrain, using a twincharged 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder petrol engine from the Volvo XC90 T8 to drive the front wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission, with an additional two electric motors powering the rear wheels.
