See your city grow and transform over time. With stunning graphics that are as beautiful as they are detailed, Cities: Skylines II will bring your city to life!

Overview[edit | edit source]

Cities: Skylines II will have an all new technology tree. Now, you still indirectly need milestones to unlock services, however it is no longer directly from milestones as in Cities: Skylines. In milestones, you will acquire a certain amount of development points (usually more if the milestone is higher) and these development points may be used to research services and utilities. They are laid out in a branch diagram style with some buildings not being accessible without unlocking another one before it. To level up to a new milestone, a certain amount of XP must be gathered. XP is gathered by your city just running, like placing new services. When the XP needed has been gained, you will hit the milestone which will give you development points, new tiles for expansion etc.

City services and utilities are revamped in Cities: Skylines II. Unlike the last game, of which you simply connected a high-voltage power line nearby to zoning and it powers the zones and any city services in the area up, now you must use a substation to lower the voltage from the high to low voltage power lines. Unlike Cities: Skylines, Cities: Skylines II automatically lays down water and sewage pipes below roads (excluding highways). Inland water reserves that can be depleted and refilled over time have been introduced. Service buildings may be expanded up on by building expansions and adding upgrades to improve efficiency and capacity.

The citizens inside of the city themselves are also greatly improved on in Cities: Skylines II. Each individual citizen will have a specified residence, workplace, wealth level and education level. Citizens can now also be homeless, mainly gathering and wondering in parks and other leisure facilities. Chirper from Cities: Skylines has been completely overhauled, so now it is less obtrusive, more refined and looks like an actual texting app. citizens may post, or "chirp" about their life, job and the city they live in. These posts can accumulate likes in the style of a heart, and even the player can like a post, though this was actually an accidental feature.

All new camera and cinematic tools have been introduced in Cities: Skylines 2, including an in game cinematic animator and easily adjustable camera view settings, like contrast or brightness.
