6 California Towns Land On List Of 10 Snobbiest Cities In America (2024)

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Do you hobnob with snobs?

You might if you live in one of "The Snobbiest Mid-Sized Cities in America."

The Movoto Real Estate blog came up with a list to determine which cities have the most snobs.

And Californians, listen up. There are a lot of snobs among us.

According to the survey, six of the 10 snobbiest cities are in the Golden State. And the snobbiest of the snobby live in Pasadena— and as KCAL9's Bobby Kaple reports, the residents of Pasadena won this honor (distinction?) by a landslide.

Of course, if you're a complete snob, this fact probably doesn't faze, or bother, you.

Thousand Oaks came in at No 2.

How did they come up with the Snobby Top 10? The blog factored in median home prices, the number of private schools per capita, the percentage of the city with people with college degrees, number of country clubs and number of art galleries.

Cities also won points if they had fewer fast-food joints.

Rounding out the Snobby Top Five, Alexandria, Va., at No. 3; Naperville, Ill., at No. 4, and Santa Rosa, just north of San Francisco, at No. 5.

Glendale came in at No. 7 and Fullerton ranked No. 10.

Kaple reported from Old Town Pasadena where he went in search of snobs. He said he couldn't find any. He did find people who thought the survey was flawed.

"I really disagree with that. I would think it would be more like Beverly Hills," said Joelle Dorse, "yeah, Beverly Hills."

Hannah Yoho chalked up the distinction to something else.

"We are not snobby," she said, "that is just jealousy."
